I think of Bud often. He was an example to me in many ways, but mostly in the way he lived his faith in Jesus Christ in everything he did. On Earth he showed himself to be a Godly man. In heaven, he is perfected as such.

I have known "Uncle Bud" for my whole life. Growing up in the Royal Palm Neighborhood I got to learn and have a close friendship with Uncle Bud. He was always there to talk to, when I would have a bad day or just having trouble with one of my many projects in the garage. Whether he was busy or not, he would always answer his pager and was there to help me out. I will never forget Uncle Bud and what he taught me in life.

I was fortunate enough to meet Bud and Mary Beth at Einstein's a few years ago, and I always looked forward to seeing them whenever I was in Phoenix. Bud was always warm and engaging: while I can hardly think of adequate words to express that quality, anyone who met Bud knows how much it's so.

I had the privilege of meeting Bud and Mary Beth a month ago. We shared my deceased husband's love of trains and went to 5 and Diner for lunch and a shake. I know that Bud and Skip are talking trains. Whenever you hear a steam whistle blowing, you'll know the two are riding God's rails. My life has been blessed knowing Bud and Mary Beth.

We first met Bud ten years ago when we purchased a house Mary Beth was listing. Bud was there helping out doing things such as cleaning up the neighboring yard. He was very friendly and seemed interested in getting to know us. He made us feel like something more than just a buyer of that property. I ran into Bud many times after that, and he always had that same warmth and interest in how we were doing. However, I quickly realized that we were not special. He treated everyone that way. It was Bud who was special. Mary Beth and family – you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Although I haven't seen Bud for many years, I have thought of him often remembering the outstanding people person that he was. Selfishly, I'm sorry to see him pass but God gets a really good one. My sympathies to Mary Beth who is equally a fantastic person and who welcomes people into her life as if she's known them forever just as Bud did. God Bless.

"Uncle Bud" was as loved and adored by children as he was by his dearest friends. He enabled those he touched to see things in the most beautiful and important ways. I believe that Bud was an "angel on earth" and now he is back home. We will all miss him, but hopefully remember the lessons he taught us so memorably. All our love,-- The York Family.

Bud Smith - what a wonderful man of God! When I was a young believer in Christ, Bud showed me much of what it means to walk the walk. He will be missed by many, but we also rejoice that he is now with the Lord he loves so much.
