Velma McConnachie Obituary

McConnachie, Velma Jeanne
Velma Jeanne McConnachie, 86, passed away peacefully in Mesa, Arizona, on April 11, 2011. She had a beautiful spirit and was loved by all who knew her. Velma was born in Sheridan, WY, graduated from High School in Malta, MT, and then moved to the NW with her family. During WWII she worked in the Bremerton shipyards, where she met her husband, Clarence (Mac) McConnachie. They settled in Edmonds, WA. Velma was devoted to raising her children and was very active in her community. Along her life path, she survived the great depression, the early death of her mother, and three bouts of cancer treatment. Velma is survived by her children Carole Weishaar (Ray) of Mesa, Terry Bradwin (Doug) of Anacortes, Gene McConnachie (Catherine) of Shoreline, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by her husband Clarence (Mac) McConnachie and son James Jay in 2001. A celebration of her life will be held in Edmonds, Washington. In lieu of flowers please consider a gift in her name to her favorite non-profit, all-volunteer charity, The Desert Cancer Foundation of Arizona, P.O. Box 2796, Chandler, AZ. 85244-2796, www.desertcanceraz.org which provides free lifesaving cancer screenings for uninsured women and their families.
