I know you are watching over your brother and sisters and all your brothers of 3/7 and all your friends and family. I love you son so much. I know you would not want to see me cry but I just can't help it. I know you keep me strong around others and I know you are right beside me. I love and miss you so much. Love Mom

Hey Scotty it seems like just yesterday that you and the rest of the Bailey clan were here at the ranch having a great time. I always remember you with your earphones on and the hood of your sweatshirt over your head. I would always ask you " which one are you?" because you and Josh would both have the same gear on and I could'nt tell you apart. I'm sure that in heaven you're wearing your earphones and have even had Jesus listen to your music with you. Yup, that sounds about right. Missing you and thinking of you everytime your Dad and Steph are over. Please watch over Josh for all of us.

Rest your head now, weary soldier.
Cast your weapons to the ground.
Close your eyes and feel the peace, the light of Jesus fold around. Heed not our earthly battle cries, there is no post for you to stand.
So rest now as He carries you within his loving hand.
Do not look back upon us, disregard our selfish tears.
Walk in the sunlight of the spirit, free of war or pain and fear.
Your duty here is done now, as ours will someday be.
So go him now to places only heroes see.

Wow. How do express grief online? Nearly impossible with words. LCPL Bailey was not only a fellow poole in the DEP, but a friend. A friend that maybe passed away, but is in every single one of our hearts. The one song that comes to mind is Shine Your Light. So LCPL, shine your light down on all of us. Give us the strength to carry on. We should not be in grief, we should celebrate his life. He would not want us to be sad, yet to, as I stated, celebrate his life. Rejoice in the memories that he left us with. Remeber the good times but don't dwell on the bad. Don't regret his pass but don't forget.

As a mother of a son who leaves for US Marine Corp bootcamp next week, I know that there are no words to say except how sorry I am for your loss of your son Scotty. Your son was a hero and will never be forgotten. I'm sure you must be torn between being so proud of Scotty and yet so deeply devastated by his passing. May God continue to bless you all and guide you during this difficult time.

Dear Scotty,
Your time here was far too short. You had so much to offer, so much ahead of you. We struggle to understand this loss and ask "why?" Yet God has his reason. We think of the many things left unsaid and undone. Now you and we must wait a little longer for that best of all reunions. On that day all tears will be wiped away. Until then, we remember the love you showed for family, friends and country. This love, courage and determination are an inspiration for us all. We will try to do the same. We honor and salute YOU.
With love from your Georgia family,

Dear Kim, Nick, Josh, Shaye & Family,

My heart goes out to you all. I last remember Scotty as a good kid playing with the rest of the Jones family cousins outside of my Aunt Margie & Uncle Dick's home in Youngtown. In a few short years since then he grew up to be a fine young man. I know you all dearly loved him. I am so sorry for your loss. You are, and will remain, in my thoughts and prayers.

Much love,

Steven Pellettiere

April 28, 2008

Kim, Tom, Nick

My most sincere condolences are with you and your families. These words will do little to ease your pain in this time of grief. Please know that they are written with a heavy heart, trembling hands, and a tear stained face.
It is my belief that when people pass it is best to relish the good times you had, rather than focus on where they are now. I remember Scotty as a wildly enthusiastic boy. He loved to play and have a good time. He was a doting older brother to Shaye. I cherish the birthday parties where the kids and I would play in the pool. Doing tricks off the diving board, chicken fights, Marco Polo, under water races, and last but certainly not least Tom and Nick scheming to throw a cake in Scotty’s face. These moments I will remember forever.
When I heard Scotty has joined the Marine Corps, I realized the boy I knew had become a man. To be so young, yet so courageous, actively pursing a career that most certainly would put him in harms way. Defending this country that we all hold so dear to our hearts. Abe Lincoln once wrote, “I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic…I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom”. As a citizen of this nation I humbly renew Lincoln’s words. As parents you should be proud to have raised such a splendid young man.

Sincerely and Respectfully,

Steven Pellettiere and Family

My Heart & Prayers go out to you and the rest of the family. Although I met Scotty just once (not long ago) I feel I've known him forever since Kim ALWAYS let us know how proud she was of her Marine and much she loves her entire family. May God Bless you all and give you the strength you need to move on.

Scotty:
I'm sure you left this world knowing how much your Mom loves You, but you have NO idea how PROUD she was of your accomplishments and how much she ALWAYS talked about you!! Sitting here @ work is NOT easy as your mom's desk is just a few feet away and all I see are pictures of YOU!! Rest In Peace Scotty!!!

April 27, 2008

dear my big brother,

you are my hero and will always be. I have never lost faith in you. i still cant beleive you arent here with me anymore. i wish i would have at least been able to say bye. i havnt even seen you in forever and i didnt get to see you for the last time. We have had some great times. i will NEVER forget 3 great days of us hanging out. this one day when we went to go eat at olive garden just us, new years, and the last time i saw you. im happy the last thing we did together was hug eachother and say i love you brother and you said love you dest. i will never ever forget those days, those memories.
I feel like i didnt do my sisterly job right. I have never told anyone this but 1 person. i feel like i never was a good sister, i wanted to experience brother/sister things together. but we never got to. i dont think you no how much i cared for you, what i would do for you, i would have done ANYTHING to keep you alive. I would have replaced you with me if i had to. I wanted you to live your life till you were 100 years old, telling my kids stories you had about being in the marines. I wanted more good times. But unfortunatly we dont always get what we want. i always tried to look into my own future and i saw you in it. I knew you were a softy you never showed it but i knew. You will NEVER be forgotten, you were and still are the strongest person i know. I love you my big brother. I AM SOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!

I am so blessed that I was able to know you from a young child of 4yrs old to a wonderful young man at almost 19. You had so many things left to do... But, I know that God needed you more than we did...he has a plan for all of us. You are his angel now...Watch over all your loved ones - everyone loves and misses you so much! Rest in Peace Scotty.
