Leonard Gaabo Obituary

Gaabo, Leonard William
passed away April 19, 2011. Son of Amanda Peteri and Peter Gaabo, Len was born in the upper peninsula of Michigan and raised in Phillipsville, Michigan (outside of Calumet). He was the "baby" of nine children. After graduating from Calumet High School in 1943, he joined the U.S. Army, serving as an engineering equipment mechanic during WWII. He quickly endeared himself to his new "snowbird" neighbors. He is remembered for his sense of humor, straight talk, great smile, his willingness to help others, his love of golf & fishing and enjoying his "vitamin B." Len is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; children: Beverly, Robert & David (Karen) Gaabo, Gary (Becky) & Jeff (Jan) Beasley; grandchildren: Erik & Christian Ahlin, Amanda, Angela & Ashley Gaabo, Dana & Ryan Beasley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
