Jewel Wood Obituary
Jewel Wood 97, passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2011. She was born June 11, 1913 in Dothan, Texas and moved to Chandler at age 13. She married Ronald Wood in 1931 and moved to the Litchfield Park area where they established a cotton farm. Jewel was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, of 71 years. She is survived by her sister, Pearl Crisp, two sons, Ken and Pug Wood, and a daughter Margaret Wood Carl, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. Jewel was a volunteer at Maryvale Hospital for 33 years, earning many awards for her accomplishments. Jewel and Ronald were dedicated supporters of education, contributing their time and finances to the Agua Fria High School District. She leaves a legacy of love and generosity to family and friends. Her gracious smile will always be remembered. Visitation will be on Fri. April 22, 5-7 PM at First Southern Baptist Church, 1001 N Central Ave., Avondale. Funeral service will be 10AM Sat. Donations may be made to First Southern Baptist Church.
