Allan Lefkow Obituary

Lefkow, Allan Eugene
passed away April 22nd. He was born in Mitchell South Dakota the son of the late Irving and Bessie Lefkow. When he was 5 years old his family moved to Sioux City, IA. There his family owned and operated Lefkow Supply Co. AL graduated from high school at Sioux City Central in 1957. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in Chemical Engineering he returned to Sioux City and joined his father in the family business until 1969 when he and Cari moved to Des Moines Iowa with their children and opened Builders Kitchen and Supply Co. Al and Cari lived in Des Moines until moving to Scottsdale 16 years ago. He will be remembered as the most courageous and gentle man by his loving family and many friends. He spent the last 2 ½ years of his life valiantly fighting cancer. Until the very end he was to be found spending his every waking hour enjoying his loving family, his many friends, joy of golf, poker and bridge. Left to remember him are his beloved wife of 50 years, Cari Stern Lefkow, Daughter Debbie (Jon) Rosenberg of Scottsdale, Son's Bruce (Liz) Lefkow of Des Moines and Ed (Stephanie) Lefkow of Minneapolis. 9 grandchildren; Katie, Laura, Lindsey and Alex, Aaron, Shoshana and Ella Lefkow, Danielle and Jessica Rosenberg. Sister Janet McCabe of Boulder, Sister and brother in-law Betty Lou and Norm Engman of Scottsdale, Jeanne Swenson of Union Gap, Washington, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Bess Lefkow and sister Joan Marer. Funeral will be held in Mt. Sinai Cemetery (www.mtsinaicemetery.com) on Sunday, April 24th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of the Valley,1510 E Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014. Arrangement by Sinai Mortuary.

So sorry to hear about Al...my condolences to you Carrie and the rest of the family...I always liked Al. I will always remember how he always gave Shannon and Nichole the change out of his pockets when ever we all visited together at Betty Lou and Norman's house.
