Kate Aurelius Obituary

Aurelius, Kate
Kathryn Ellen (Kate) Aurelius died April 16, 2011 of inflammatory breast cancer. Kate was born February 17, 1963 in Casper, WY. She graduated from NCHS in 1981 and from Colorado State University in 1985. Kate moved to Arizona where she earmed a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Kate's life work was dedicated to ensuring quality health care for the indigent. At the time of her death she was Deputy Director of Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS). Her continued love of the outdoors and of animals led her to become a 10-year volunteer at Liberty Wildlife Refuge in Phoenix. Kate is survived by her parents, Tom and Judy, and brothers T.A. and Marc and sister Penny. She will be greatly missed by dozens of friends, family, co-workers and colleagues around the country. Kate made a whole body donation to Anatomy Gifts Registry for the further study of breast cancer. The family will have private services at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Kate Aurelius Barn Owl Sponsorship at Liberty Wildlife Refuge, PO Box 14345, Scottsdale, AZ 85267 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014, or a charity of the donor's choice.
