Shirley Johnson Obituary

Johnson, Shirley Ann
74, of Phoenix AZ passed away on April 20, 2011. Growing up in Detroit, Shirley's parents owned and operated a restaurant-bar where she worked as a teenager. After graduating from Royal Oak High School, she moved to Phoenix in 1955. She attended college as a business major, then went to work for Marathon Steel for 25 years. During that time, she was involved in the construction of the Palo Verde nuclear power plant and other large government projects. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her boys, camping, going to ball games, and taking cruises to exotic destinations. Shirley was a generous and giving person who was well liked by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed playing with her dogs Montana, Cocoa, and Sugar after an early retirement from the steel business. She is survived by her two sons David and Daniel Johnson, and one grandson, Daniel. A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, April 28 at BEST Funeral Home 501 E Dunlap Ave Phoenix 85020
