Wood, Auburn L.
Auburn L. Wood was born to Charlie and Mattie Wood on June 21, 1921, in Leighton, AL, and passed into the arms of his loving Savior on Thursday, April 21, 2011. He was raised in Colbert County, AL, where he worked as an iron worker for TVA for forty years. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Almon Wood, Austin Wood, Roy Wood, Clarence Wood, Erlene Timbes, and Methyl Grissom, as well as by his first wife, Allyne. Auburn is survived by his loving wife, Lois, his nephews, Dennis Wood and Charles Timbes, his niece, Veda Smith, his dear friend Margaret Timbes, as well as his step-children, Connie Lahti, Cheri Leas, Kris Randall, Kore Parsons, Brooks Parsons, and Tyron Parsons, many step grand-children, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held at the Greer-Wilson Funeral Home at 5921 W. Thomas Rd., Glendale, AZ on Tuesday, April 26th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service in Auburn's honor, and a reception. Auburn will be laid to rest near his family in Tuscumbia, AL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, c/o Jimmy King, E. 6th St. Rd., Leighton, AL 35646.
