Cleo Dollar Obituary

Dollar, Cleo (Eva Lou) Reed
Cleo (Eva Lou) Reed Dollar went home to be with her lord on Sunday, April 24, 2011. She joins her beloved husband, Orley M. Dollar and dear great-grandson, Cody West. She is survived by her children Orley R. Dollar and Karen Sue Wroughton (Mike), her grandchildren, Michelle Cornell (Norman), Misty Eavenson (Roy), great grandchildren, Ace, Rory and Racine Eavenson, Victoria Swann. Cleo was born in Stanford, Texas on December 4, 1925. Her legal name is Cleo because her father completed her birth certificate and chose her name before her mother could object. She was always Eva Lou to her family and friends. She lived in Texas until her senior year of high school when the family moved to Inglewood, California. There she worked in Woolworth until she graduated and began working in a defense plant. She tried to be a "Rosie Riveter" but was just to skinny at 98 pounds and so worked in the blueprint department during the war. She married Orley M. Dollar on May 5, 1946 and they raised their family in Quartzsite, Arizona. They moved to Glendale, Arizona after Orley retired from ADOT. She loved to be creative and could crochet, sew, paint and make beautiful birthday and wedding cakes. She liked to do crossword puzzles, have coffee while she read the paper and watch her Arizona sports teams, especially the SUNS. She loved having friends and family over for coffee. She was an extraordinary women, creating a loving home for her family, warm and accepting friends, creative and funny, laughing often. She will be deeply missed but is home with her Lord, and back with her beloved Orley, O'Dell and Dorothy. Look out, Heaven, They will be quite a foursome. In lieu of flowers those who wish may donate to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03086-9502. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary located at 7924 N. 59 Ave. in Glendale, Az. Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 on Thursday. Dear Orley Reed and Karen Sue,
It's hard to find the words to express the feelings and emotions after viewing the photos of your beloved mother, and family members. There is an empty spot in the lives of all that loved her...yet, there is joy in knowing that she is with the Lord and that the Reed and Dollar Gang are together again. Do you suppose they have their guitars, base, etc.? I send Love & Prayers to you as well as to Michelle and Misty. Wonderful memories of "Mom" will live in me forever and ever.
