I've known Roger since I first played the organ for the choir at St. Barnabas in 1985, and what a significant role he played serving the church. I just finished a long journey on the same cruise ship which we sailed together with Mary in Tahiti in 2000, bringing to mind many great memories of being at sea together, as well as of or times when I took the choir abroad. I extend my sympathies to the family of Roger. Roger Heldenbrand was one of the first persons I came in contact with at AiResearch when I started there in 1961. He was always a great delight to work with, and I enjoyed his company, his writing, and his dry humor. I'll never forget his musical rendition of "Onward and Upward with Gas Turbines!"

Oh my gosh...It's been awhile since I have heard his name...unfortunately to hear it this way. I am Eileen Christianson...daughter of Al and Mary McCoy. Roger was one of my mom's favorite friends...always found them laughing it up together. Neither Al nor mom are alive today....so I am sure that they will hook up "UP THERE" and share some more laughs. I will offer prayers for your family at church this Sunday.

Thank you, Roger, for being such a wonderful friend for so many years. We will always treasure our memories of all those great meals you prepared for ther bridge evenings and for all those fun tail gate evenings at ASU games. We sure can't forget that great trip to Europe. Thank you for solving the major challenge on my HO layout and many thanks for urging me to volunteer at RFB&D so many years. Your leadership and musical contributions to our church will always be in our memories. Of greatest importance, Roger, is your never-ending friendship. We will treasure it forever and we will forever miss you.

All of us at Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic here in the Phoenix Studio will miss you, Roger -- your great and gentle spirit, your generous heart and dry wit, and your wonderful mellifluous voice -- all of these seem a part of us by virtue of your constant devotion and passion for this great work. There's a space here that can't be filled. May you be at peace at last.

Roger was also an amazingly talented woodworker and a bon vivant, with a passion for good food and drink, not to mention a fabulous singer with a lovely voice. I could not have asked for a better companion for my mother, he treated her wonderfully. He will be sorely missed.
