Lammers, Donald M. P.H.D .
passed away peacefully on April 18, 2011 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born June 13, 1926 in Sacramento,. CA, moved to Rochester, New York at an early age. He served honorably in the Naval Air Corp during World War II and later became an instrument flight instructor. After graduation from Syracuse University, he began his teaching career at the Indian School at Nedrow, New York, later was principal of the Lafayette, NY Elementary School. He got his Doctorate Degree in Music Education from Syracuse University. He retired as an administrator of the Syracuse School District. He taught & played many instruments. He was also a lover of the big band sound and as a teen played in a dance band under the direction of Dutch Laroux at Immaculate Conception Church in Rochester. For the past 15 years, he & his beloved wife Jo have lived in Phoenix, AZ. Survived by his wife Josephine (Schembri) (Viavattene) Lammers and his step children James & Karen Viavattene and Mary Jo Viavattene of Arizona, John & Debby Viavattene of Rochester, New York. He also leaves his beloved Grandchildren Eric & Wendy Viavattene, Benny & Danielle Pelossi and Kristen & Todd Kelly of Arizona, Terry Brooker and Angie Marshall of Rochester, NY and his loving great grandchildren, Isabella, Brodie & Bryce Viavattene, Kayla Speck, Alyssa, Benny & Michael Pelossi, Nicholas & Sarah -Marshall . He is predeceased by his first wife, Marion Stryker, his mother & dad and brother, Paul Lammers. He leaves many friends and extended family. Funeral Mass will be held at St Gabriel the Archangel Church at 32648 N. Cave Creek Rd on Saturday April 30, at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 23015 Cave Creek Rd.
