Roselyn Goodell Obituary

Goodell, Roz (Roselyn) Wolf
Roselyn Wolf Goodell 103, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2011. She was born on July 2, 1907 in Cincinnati Ohio to Jacob and Sarah Wolf. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BS in Education in 1929 and taught 1st grade until her marriage in 1936. Then she and her new husband moved to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where they settled and raised their family. In 1952 the Goodells moved to El Paso Texas, where she again taught 1st grade students until her retirement. After retirement Roz continued her life of service and became a volunteer for many community organizations in Texas and Phoenix, where she moved in the late 1980s. At age 96 Roz received the Ageless Heroes Community Involvement Award for her volunteerism. Roz loved people and brought happiness to everyone she came in contact with. Her positive attitude, kindness, and love of her family and her religion made her a very special person, loved and admired by all. Roz was preceded in death by her husband, Henry and her brother, Harry Wolf. She is survived by her two children, David (Naomi) and Sally; grandchildren Scott, Jeffrey (Beth), Susan (Jeffrey), Kayse and Cameron, and great-grandchildren Gabriel, Lucas, Miriam and Zoe. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Mt. Sinai Cemetery (www. mtsinaicemetery.com). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Roz Goodell Education Center, Congregation Or Chadash, 9096 E. Bahia Drive, Ste 106, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix AZ 85014. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.-

I only knew Roz for the last 9 months, since my mother was on the third floor of Chris Ridge with her. She was always upbeat and seemed so happy she brought a smile to everyone. I am happy to have met her, even for such a short time.
