Marilyn Holman Obituary

Holman, Marilyn Rosalie
Marilyn was born on November 30, 1917 in Minneapolis Minnesota. Her parents were Ruby and John Steen. Marilyn graduated in 1936 from Central High School. Marilyn married Edward F. Holman on December 30, 1941 in Medford Oregon. After WWII Marilyn and Ed settled in Minneapolis Minnesota. After a tornado took their home in 1955 they moved to Arizona and eventually settling in Scottsdale. Marilyn worked part time for A & W and the Scottsdale school district when her children were young and then went to work for Motorola until she retired in 1977. Once she and Ed were retired they enjoyed traveling in their motor home visiting new spots. She especially enjoyed traveling to Alaska and visiting her relatives in Canada and Minnesota. Marilyn when not traveling enjoyed working part time for the Phoenix Zoo, and she considered it her second home. She also volunteered many years at the Scottsdale public library. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Norine Gross(Thom) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jon Holman(Cheryl) of Wilsonville, Oregon, and Mike Holman(Lynn) of Clackamas Oregon, Granddaughter Jessica Miller(Christopher) and Great Grandson Gavin Miller. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Edward F. Holman, sisters Edith Anderson Boyer, and Alice Sonmore. A celebration of life will be held at 12:30 pm May 6, 2011 @ Messenger Chapel. 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Marilyn's name to the Phoenix Zoo.
