Helen Kontos Obituary

Kontos, Helen Kay
July 28, 1942-April 30, 2011. Helen Kay Kontos, 68, of Minot, N.D., and Chandler, Ariz., passed away unexpectedly Friday April 30, 2011, at Banner Gateway hospital in Gilbert, Ariz. Helen was born on July 28, 1942 in Minot, ND the daughter of Albert & Grace Irwin. Helen was a feisty, independent, funny, kind and caring woman. She selflessly spent countless years of her life caring for her elderly parents and making sure that they lived out their final years well taken care of in North Dakota. During this time, Helen was a valued employee of Choice Hotels Int'l. She was known for her outstanding customer service and set an impressive example for those she worked with. Her work ethic was truly something to be admired. When her parents passed, Helen decided to move to Arizona to be closer to her two sons, Randy and Jamey, and her 3 grandchildren. The happiest moments in Helen's life were those spent with her boys and her grandchildren, they were the light of her life. Helen went to work for Jamey's company in 2007 as the receptionist which was a most appropriate fit. Her beautiful smile was the first thing people saw when they walked through the doors. She truly could light up a room. And let's not forget her impeccable style! Helen was an elegant and extremely classy lady with an exquisite sense of style. Most of us are quite certain we never saw her wear the exact same outfit twice. Helen was dressed to the "nines," every day! Helen is survived by: her two sons, Randy Langseth and companion, Laura, and Jamey Langseth and fiancé Andja; her three beautiful grandchildren, Paige, Nicole and Beau Langseth; three brothers, Warren, Arlan, and Gordon Irwin: sister, Sharon Spencer; and her two furry friends "Sassy" and "Tootsie." Helen will be reunited with her loving son Marty Langseth, who preceded her in death. Helen was a great mother, a fun loving grandmother and a devoted friend. She touched so many lives and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. There will be a gathering for family and friends, Friday, May 13, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Helen's last place of employment, Western States Flooring, 350 E. Elliot Road, Chandler, AZ 85225. There will be food, drinks & music to celebrate Helen's life. For more info call
