Bill, Shafer Jr

May 8, 2011

Many years ago there were a group of friends whose names keep slipping away from my memory and from mortality. Bill Pedergrass, Charley McDonald, Glenn Nelson and Bill Shafer. I do not know if, when or where they passed. Bill Shafer my father went in 2004, so it was with sadness I read of the passing of Bill Pendergrass. I extend my condolences and sympathies to his family.

My last memories must have been from just after the war. Dad was excited about something and we drove to Payson to meet "Pendergrass" at Boardman's store. The meeting took place but I never understood what the fuss was all about. Now, I suspect it was about two friends meeting, perhaps after the war.

Dad lived in Tempe the last 20 years of his live, so near yet so far.

It is comforting to know there has been another meeting of old friends after the trials and tribulations of mortality.
