Frances McCormack Obituary

McCormack, Frances
passed away peacefully, at age 95, on April 28, 2011. Fran, a beloved wife, mother and sister will always be in the hearts of her son, John (wife Linda); daughter, Patricia (husband Kevin); 4 grandchildren (Jaunette, Shannon, Briana and Rachel), 4 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Nogie and Marie and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was the loving framework of her family. She will be greatly missed by family and friends for her love, compassion, support, encouragement and selfless giving. She has joined her husband Edward, her parents and her 13 brothers and sisters who left before her. We know she is sad to have to leave us, but is now hugging and laughing with delight to be with her other family members, having missed them so. Mom had an extraordinary life of love, laughter and giving. She was born in 1915 in Illinois in an era of scrubbing your laundry in a wash tub, raising your own food, and living in a hard-working, close knit family of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins all pitching in together for one another. The lived through the times of the Roaring 20's, the Great Depression, WW II, inventions of the radio, TV, space program, and so on. Her house as a child was one of love and laughter, and she brought such to us. When Mom & Dad married in 1942 they took a train on the day of their wedding with only $100, a couple of suitcases, and headed to Los Angeles. Mom and Dad came to Arizona in the 1950's and remained. Mom became the first president of the Mother's Club at OLPH. She devoted herself to her family and friends, volunteering in the schools of her children, the Scottsdale Healthcare (hospital) Auxiliary and Hospice of the Valley. She always looked forward to the baseball season, working as an Auxiliary volunteer with the Chorros. She will be missed by so many and loved eternally. Messinger Indian School Mortuary is entrusted with the final arrangements and a funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM Saturday May 7th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St, Phx, AZ 85014 or Mount Grace Convent, 1438 E Warne Ave, P.0. Box 470219, St. Louis, MO 63147

My husband and I visited Aunt Fran and Uncle when they lived in Colorado and in Arizona. They were always so hospitable and such delightful company. Aunt Fran was always lively and outgoing. Uncle Ed affectionately called her, "brat". The name was most fitting.

Aunt Frances loved life and life loved her. To be in her company was always great fun. She was the last of a large and loving family of brothers and sisters who were devoted to one another and who always enjoyed being together. We will miss all of our dear mothers, fathers, uncles and aunts who were the heart and soul of a truly unique family.

May God bless you all at this time of sorrow. Aunt Frances was very dear to us, and is our last living immediate relative of the Piazza family of her generation.
