Morland, Judith Ellen
60, of Show Low, passed away April 28, 2011. She was born June 27, 1950, in Phoenix, to Warren and Eloise Plants. Judi is survived by her husband, Dennis; sister Martha Allison of Phoenix; brother David Plants of Texas and many nieces and nephews. Judi grew up in Phoenix and graduated from the University of Arizona School of Pharmacy in 1974. She took up archery in college and competed in field archery around the world, even earning an alternate spot on the 1980 US Olympic Team. Judi met her husband, Dennis, when they both played for a softball league in Phoenix. They were married August 26, 1989, at Orangewood Presbyterian Church. They moved to Pinetop in 1996 to refurbish the Nine Pines Motel, which they ran for many years. Judi's first job out of college was at Kristal Lahr Pharmacy in Phoenix where she worked until she relocated to Pinetop. She was a traveling pharmacist until she began working in the Safeway pharmacy in Show Low in 1998. Judi was very involved in the Presbyterian Church and was ordained an Elder in 2001. At Orangewood Presbyterian Church and at Community Presbyterian of Pinetop. Judi was involved with the youth group where she loved and was well loved. She participated and led the handbell choirs for many years. Judi enjoyed music and sang in the White Mountain Chorale. Judi loved working in the yard and helping her husband with any project. They built 2 custom homes, one in Pinetop and their current home in Show Low. Judi had an extensive flower and vegetable garden. She loved traveling and spending time with family and friends. Judi loved learning and continued studying Spanish and math. After a 3 year battle with cancer which she courageously fought, Judi was called home to heaven. Her memorial services will be held Saturday, May 7, at 11:00 A.M. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Pinetop. There will also be an additional memorial service in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to an animal association of your choice. Arrangements were under the direction of Black's Mortuary, Show Low.
