Lucille Beddome Obituary

Beddome, Lucille Salter
A proud Kansas Farm girl who became a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt to everyone. She loved to cook and enjoyed arranging family get togethers. All her relatives, without exception, love her and will miss her beautiful smile and good hugs. Lucille worked 27 years for the Arizona House of Representatives caring for their Legislative Bill room from which all the public, including legislators, have to request pending legislation and currently enacted statutes. Hundreds of persons became acquainted with her ready smile and sharp memory for small details. She is truly a one-of-a-kind. Now God will tend to her needs because she is with Him. Lucille was born in Garden City, Kansas on June 28, 1923, grew up and went to school in Alden, Kansas. Lucy was preceded in death by her father Clinton Adelbert Salter, her mother Ida May (Simmons) Salter, brother Willis, sister Dorothy (Janz), brothers Orville and Norman. While visiting a friend in the Los Angeles area, she was introduced to Larry Beddome in the fall of 1949 after he returned from a four year hitch in the U. S. Navy, and was starting his second four year enlistment. They fell in love, waited a short time, ran off to Lordsburg, New Mexico on her birthday, June 28, 1950, and had a Justice of the Peace marry them. They returned to his native home in Phoenix, where he was awaiting assignment to the West Pacific with the USN Amphibious Services. She became a mother to Lawrence C. Beddome, December 14, 1951 and had to care for the new child while Larry was doing his Korean War Service. Larry returned to Arizona in 1953 and was mustered out of the Navy. Lucille became a policeman's wife in 1954 because hubby became an Arizona Highway Patrolman. They served in various parts of the State. The second child, Michael Allen Beddome was born in Phoenix, July 4th, 1954. Lucille was a good mom and helped raise these two fine men and was grandmother to three great kids at the time of her passing April 26, 2011. The first grandchild is Kyle Allen Beddome, son of Larry and Becky, December 9, 1982. Then Michael and Carol had John-Michael November 20, 1990. Finally, June 23, 1994, Mike and Carol presented Lucille with her only granddaughter, Courtney Alexandra. Lucille's many nieces, nephews, other relatives and even neighbors, will miss her greeting cards, smiles, cooking and great holiday times.

Larry,
I will always remember you and Lucille as good friends to my family over the years and the comfort you provided when my own father passed away. May the loving memory of Lucille bring you strength in the days ahead.

Larry and Family,
What a lovely picture of Lucille. As I wrote in the Sedona guest book, you both lived a true love story life.
Know that many old friends have you in their thoughts and prayers.
