Dale Bloodgood Obituary

Bloodgood, Dale Byron
age 88 passed away at his home in Tempe, Az., April 27, 2011 after suffering a heart attack in Nov. 2010. He was born and raised in Huron, South Dakota on Dec. 28, 1922 to the late Henrietta and EJ Bloodgood. He went on to farm in Huron until 1941 at which time he moved to Hollywood, Ca. and worked at Lockheed. After serving in the Air Force, Dale returned to farming in South Dakota, then moved his family to Columbus, Ohio in 1956 where he became a heavy equipment mechanic and welder. In 1974 the family moved to Tempe, Az. where Dale worked until he retired in 1987. His retirement years were filled with travels around the states in a motor home with his wife of 68 years, Ruby. He also enjoyed working on projects with his daughter, Barbara. One of which was making a set of "wheels" for her little dog who had lost use of his back legs. He was truly a wonderful, amazing and talented man. Dale is survived by his wife, Ruby, daughter, Barbara, 2 sisters, a step sister, grand dog, Toolie and best friend, Al who has been the "Rock of Gibraltar" for the family. He was preceded in death by his 2 sons, Ricky and Randy, parents, a brother, step brother, step sister and step father. Upon his request a private family service was held. Great appreciation is extended to Hospice of the Valley and any memorials may be sent to them at 1510 E. Flower St, Phx. Az. 85014.

Barbara and Ruby, So many wonderful memories of Dale through these 37 years I have know your family. He truly WAS a talented creative man. Always a project or invention. You got that from him Barbara!! I will remember his pleasant face, husky voice and always the cheerful "Hi Karen" when I walked in the room. A gentleman through and through! He will be sorely missed. My love and prayers are with you now.

Dear Ruby and Barbara, Dale will be missed by all who admired and loved him. He was my brother for 68 years, He was the one I turned to when I had some mechanical problems and when I needed advise on how to fix or make something work. He would always come up with an answer and later call to see if it worked. I still have a card he sent to me when I was a little girl. My love to you. Sister Joy, Aunt Joy
