Eduardo Canilang Obituary

Canilang, Dr. Eduardo Martinez
Dr. Eduardo Martinez Canilang was born in the Philippines on July 12, 1941. He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, Class of 1966. He immigrated to the United States in the 1960's where he practiced as a physician for 40 years in Maryland and Arizona. "Tito Eddie" had an extraordinary and jovial spirit; he always had a "laurel and hearty" joke or funny story to make everyone laugh. He made the most out of his life, whitewater rafting, driving fast cars but yet he loved reading books, watching foreign movies, playing tennis and mostly playing with his grandkids. He had the ability to relate to the younger generation dubbing him the " coolest", "funnest" dad/uncle. In his twilight years, he still practiced Anesthesia and volunteered on Medical Missions with the Phil-Am Lions Association administering Anesthesia for Cataract surgeries . He was suddenly taken away from us on May 2, 2011 at age 69, and he will be greatly missed. It is with heavy hearts to see Tito Eddie go, and we pray that he is in the Hands of God savoring in the afterlife of His eternal kingdom. Eddie was the eldest of seven children. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Hernandez Canilang, his only child, Christina Canilang Lota, son in law, Rodolfo Lota Jr., and grandchildren, Marco and Kaylee, and siblings, Carolina C. De Leos, Norma C. Reyes, Lydia C. Nicasio, Manuel Canilang, Liza C. Capati, Yolanda Canilang. A private viewing for the family will be held at the Hansen Mortuary. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church 4715 North Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012 on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 10am. A Memorial Service will also be held on Tuesday, May 10 2011, at 6pm at the Hansen Mortuary, 8314 North 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020.
