Betty Hammond Obituary
85, of Paradise Valley, AZ passed away on May 4, 2011. Betty was born on March 28, 1926 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa to Mary and Leon Smith. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in music, and went on to play violin for the Houston Symphony for several years. She became a United Airlines flight attendant in 1952. Betty married Joe Hammond in 1973 and they lived in San Marino, CA until 1982 when they moved to Paradise Valley. She was a powerful golfer and loved the game. She is survived by her husband Joe, daughters Debbie Bayer of Agoura Hills, CA, Christine Thomas of Houston, TX, and granddaughters Emily and Sarah Bayer. Contributions in Betty's name may be made to The Episcopal Parish of St. Barnabas on the Desert, Paradise Valley, AZ.
