Butterworth, Wallace "Wally"
78, of Phoenix passed away on May 3, 2011. Wallace (Wally) Butterworth was born in Chicago on July 25, 1932 to Herbert Wallace Butterworth and Antoinette Baillargeon. Wally grew up in NYC and attended The Haverford School and High School of Dramatic Arts. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin. He had a very successful career in advertising in Wisconsin, NYC, Pittsburgh and Phoenix, and had a second career as a financial advisor. Wally was very active in the Boy Scouts and received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, as well as the Maricopa County Sheriff's Jeep Posse and Reserves, where he was recognized as the Reserve Deputy of the Year. Wally believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and left this life looking forward to the next chapter in his journey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, John Walker Butterworth. He is survived by his sons, Todd, Andrew, David and Cary, and his former wife, Judi. A Celebration of his life will be at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3104 W. Glendale Ave. on Wed, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Andrew Butterworth Scholarship Fund at any Wells Fargo bank, in support of Wally's vision for Andrew to complete his degree in filmmaking.

Wally and I worked together many years ago in the 70's in advertising. It was an enjoyable time. My wife, Cynthia, and I would like to express our sincere condolences to Wally's family.

I met Wally about 20 years ago. He was a great guy to talk to and be around. I especially enjoyed discussions about the Bible and his faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was so pround of his son, Andrew. Maurice Russell

To the family,
Although I met Wally only 5 months ago, I was immediately impressed with Wally's high degree of intelligence, compassion, culture , love of cooking and fine dining and love plus trust in God.
Wally helped tante Soem, his neighbor and gave of himself to the MAX, always creative, thoughtful and above all a GENTLEMAN of the old school.
Respectfully,
Ling
