Thomas Peter Crawford, 80, died May 14, 2011 in Mesa, AZ. Mr. Crawford was a winter visitor from Fulton, SD. He was born in Mitchell, SD on May 1, 1931, and was the oldest of 12 children. In addition to running the family farm, he worked for over 30 years for Hormel Corp and retired in 1984. Mr. Crawford is survived by his six sons, David (Sandy) of Watertown, SD, Dan of Deadwood, SD, Gerry (Pam) of Huron, SD, Duane , John and Jim of Fremont, NE and by his two daughters, Barbetta (Alan) Turpin of London, England and Karen (Patrick) Langan of Lincoln, NE and his former wife Pearl of Fremont, NE. He is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Marian Hoff, Jim (Dea), Sheila, Rita and Linda of Mesa, AZ, Bob (Dee) of Palo Alto, CA, Dennis (Becky) of Parker, AZ, Pat (John) Holzhauser of Gettysburg, SD, Jan Engels of El Paso, TX, Judy (Dan) Lange of Appleton, WI, and close friend of many years Connie Kaufman, and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jo Ann Friederich. Two of Mr. Crawford's favorite activities were square dancing and fishing. He would host a number of fish frys here in AZ and SD. He had just celebrated his 80th birthday on May 1st with a big party attended by many family and friends. There will be a viewing for Tom Crawford on Thursday evening, May 19th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ. A funeral mass will be held for him in Mitchell, SD at a future date. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to: American Heart Assoc., 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
