88 of Mesa, passed away on May 15, 2011. Maralene Estelle Henry Peterson was born August 25th 1922 in Dubois, ID. She met Lamar Peterson on a bus traveling in Salt Lake City, Utah. When Lamar was stationed at Pyote Air Base as an officer in the United States Air Force they were married on May 9th 1943. She traveled with Lamar throughout the world as a patient and strong air force wife; she served three times as an officer's wives club president. She lived in England, Bermuda, Hawaii, and Iceland among other places. Both her boys were born in the United States and her baby girl was born in Hawaii in 1950, before Hawaii was part of the US. After retirement they moved to and resided in Mesa, AZ. Maralene spent her free time golfing, traveling, cooking, & knitting. She excelled in knitting and crocheting and spent lots of time teaching both at a knitting shop in downtown Mesa, AZ. Survived by her husband of 68 years Col. Lamar Clarence Peterson, sons: James (Candida) and Dale (Kathy) Peterson and daughter Ann Marie Peterson. Maralene had ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister and a brother that will miss her dearly. Her family enjoyed her excellent homemaking skills and her example of a homemaker will resonate in all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
