Herzer, Donald Garrard
Donald Garrard Herzer, born Evansville, IN on September 26, 1928 departed this life on May 14, 2011 in Scottsdale, AZ. Don was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force. Graduating from flight school in Brian Air Force Base, Brian, TX. He flew the F86 Saber Jet, which was the first aircraft to break the sound barrier. He attended Bosse High School, U of TN and Evansville College. Membership includes: Honorable Kentucky Col., American Legion, NRA and USGA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. C.C. and Hattibelle Garrard Herzer, sister June Watkins, brothers Ronald and Robert Herzer. He is survived by his wife Ann, son John, daughter Joy Nelson, granddaughter Chelsea Holaway (Casey), great-grandchildren Makayla Ludington and Cade Holaway. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ. Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 10:00 am, at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
