Ordog, Steve
Steve Ordog, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 10th after a brain hemorrhage & related complications. He was a devoted husband, father, & grandfather. Steve leaves behind his wife- Mary, four sons- Steve (North Carolina), Sid married to Margie (Rhode Island), Joe married to Dianne (Massachusetts), and Walt married to Shari (Phoenix); and eight grandchildren- Chris & Mary (North Carolina); Jonathan, David, & Julia (Rhode Island); and Rhian, Chase, & Ava (Phoenix). Steve was born to Andras & Erszebet (Martinovics) in East Chicago, Indiana on 02 May 1928. He had a brother, Andrew married to Virginia, and a sister, Elizabeth. All of these relatives pre-deceased him. He also had a niece, Kathy, married to Tom Smith, with three children- Andrew, Tom, & Steve. Also his best friend & brother-in-law, Tom Marshall, married to Donna, with three daughters, and numerous other extended family. Steve worked on the railroad and in steel mills early in his career, served in the Army in Korea, attended Purdue University and graduated with honors as a mechanical engineer. He stayed with the steel industry, working at Armco, then rolling-mill designer & builder Morgan Construction, from which he retired almost 30 years later. He was a chapter officer & lifetime member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Steve took great pleasure in reading (2 books/week) & working with young, eager minds- first Junior Achievement, & later Cub and Boy Scouts. He was active in church, where he used to usher. He also loved to fish- from walleye to bass or northern pike. In addition, Steve enjoyed tinkering with cars & racing sailboats. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 11am at the 1st United Methodist Church, Glendale, Arizona. Contributions: to the 1st United Methodist Church of Glendale, or to Hospice of Arizona.

Steve (the Younger) and Family - Very sorry to see your Dad's obituary in the T&G this last week. The entire family was so nice to me while I was taking guitar lessons at your house and I think of that when passing by there, as I do often. My consolations and best wishes.
