Smith, Joseph A.
Joseph A. Smith, 82 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on May 14th, 2011; after a long illness. Joe was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey where he graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1947. A self made man, Joe started in the petro-chemical industry as a technician. He worked in various companies and positions in that field, ultimately retiring from Atlantic Richfield Corp in 1988 as the Facility Manger of their Newtown Square, Pa. research facility. Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years Ruth(Yockman); his son Paul and wife Karina of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; his daughter Gale(Smith-Gosser)and son in law William of Flemington, N.J.; two sisters Joan Fallon and Loretta Keller both of New Jersey; grandchildren, Tonya Smith, W. Dakota Gosser, Karydia and Kate Smith and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Le Roy and Loretta Smith and two brothers Roy and Richard. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5111 N Scottsdale Rd, Suite 108, Scottsdale, AZ, 85250-7076.
