Charles Grady Obituary

Grady, Charles Edward
Hero has many names, none greater than dad and husband. Charles Edward Grady passed peacefully at home on May 18, 2011. By his side were his wife of 55 years, Betty, daughters Bev Moriarty (Ken) and Erin Alcaraz (Rick), and son Mark Grady (Sandra). He is survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 8, 1938. Charles and Betty met at Manual High School in Missouri and were married in 1956. Job opportunities took the Grady family across the country and they resided in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Illinois, Colorado, California and Arizona, always making friends along the way. Many thought we were a military family because of all the moves, but Charles was always seeking ways to improve his family's lives. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing and many other outdoor sports. In his golden years he retired to Arizona and loved spending time with family, reading a good a book, and enjoying a good piece of cheesecake with a fresh cup of coffee. Charles was generous to a fault, kind, and believed in doing what was right, not just what was easy. He had a quick smile and a sharp sense of humor that never failed to catch you off guard. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother and a brilliant man. He will be greatly missed. Visitation time is scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, May 21st followed by a Funeral Service starting at 11:00 am at Mountain View Funeral Home 7900 E. Main St. in Mesa, AZ 85205.
