Eileen Keil Obituary

Keil, Eileen
92, died May 16, 2011 in Mesa. Services are Sat. 5/21 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Eileen was born on 1/1/19 to Gertrude and Joseph Ulinger in Minnetonka, MN. She loved life on the farm and was quite a tomboy. When still very young her family moved to Buffalo, NY. There she graduated from Mount St. Mary's High School and made many lifelong friends. A highlight of her youth was a year spent touring the country with friend Rosie, sightseeing, working odd jobs when needed and generally having a blast! She married Marty Keil in 1947 and had 5 children. In 1957 they moved to Phoenix where they raised their family, were active in Sts. Simon & Jude, and loved by all who met them. They enjoyed sports, travel (especially Europe), and in later years their grandchildren. In 1989 they moved to Huntington Beach and had several wonderful years near the ocean, children & grandchildren. Eileen nursed Marty through his final illness, then in 2001 she returned to Arizona and made her final home at Arbor Rose in Mesa. They took great care of her and made her last years comfortable. Eileen is preceded in death by husband Marty Sr., brothers Len, Jack, Joe and Tom, and granddaughter Jackie. She is survived by children Kathy (Jon) Jones, Rosemary (Brad) Glaves, Marty Keil Jr., Theresa (Tom) Ross, and Eileen (Gordon) Peterson; also by eleven grandchildren, sister Lucille, numerous nieces & nephews (to whom she was always Aunt Bunny) and best friend Marge Pancost. We'll love you forever!

Mrs. Keil was the original June Cleaver of the Winton Park neighborhood (33rd Avenue & Glendale). She was very kind to me and my younger sister, Irene. I remember she was the first to explain Ash Wednesday to me after I told her she had a smudge on her face :) She was a beautiful woman that I had so much respect for. May she rest in peace with Martin. God bless you all. Sylvia deMey-Girten
