Leonard, Eleanor Dwight
99, of Peoria, AZ passed away on May 21, 2011. Mrs. Leonard was born on 9/10/11 in Reading, PA to Charles and Charlotte Dwight. She was a graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College, PA and received her MA from Columbia University, NYC. For many years she had resided in Garden City and Southold on Long Island, NY and in her later years in Phoenix, AZ and Pasadena, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Leonard in 1968; sisters, Flora Dwight in 1985, Charlotte Dwight in 1996, and Mother Catharine of Christ The King, O.C.D. in 1999. Eleanor was a devout Catholic and highly respected for her dedication to strong family values. In her early years, she was fondly remembered for her distinguished performances in Gilbert & Sullivan operettas in Reading, PA. Renowned as a captivating story teller, she was always the life of the party and enjoyed by a wide circle of friends. Eleanor is survived by her step-daughter, Mary Leonard Fitzpatrick and her husband Robert of Peoria, AZ, two step-grandchildren, Robert Leonard Fitzpatrick and his wife Amy of Marblehead, MA, and Annie Fitzpatrick Baker of Los Gatos, CA; four step-great-grandchildren, John Leonard (Jack) and Linda Fitzpatrick, Reilly and Bridget Baker.
