John Carr Obituary

Carr, John A.
89 of Phoenix, passed away on May 23, 2011. Born December 28, 1921, John served in the U.S. Navy in WWII from 1942-1948. Stationed at NTC also DesBase both in San Diego, CA. He served on vessels: USS Henry T. Allen, USS Bushnell and USS Fulton AS11. Awarded: Asiatic Pacific, American Area, Victory, Good Conduct. He worked for General Motors and retired from KWDart/Paccar. John moved to Phoenix in 1988 and in 1995 moved back to Kansas City and returned to Phoenix in 1996. Survived by his sisters; Angie Solomon and Agnes Langan, along with several nieces and nephews and many close friends in the Phoenix Area. Preceded in death by his wife Dolores, brothers Steve and Joe, sisters Helen Van Alden, Mary Long and Ann Jones, his mother Katie Winski and father Stephan "Steve" Carr. John died at home on May 23rd after a long illness surrounded by his Arizona family and friends. John will be dearly missed by those who loved him. His interment services were held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona with honors.
