Rita Lindmeier Obituary

Lindmeier, Rita Mae
Rita Mae Lindmeier joined her husband of 54 years, Paul, in heaven on May 21, 2011. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother ("Nanny") great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Born on January 5, 1932 to Marcella and John Mickus in New Prague, MN, she was the youngest of 5 children. Rita was predeceased by her dear sister "Sis" and brother Harold. She is survived by her brothers Karl and Bob Mickus. She had fond memories of growing up in a small Minnesota farming community where she learned to tassel corn, grow vegetables and even pump gas at the family station, the first gas station in town. After high school she moved to Minneapolis to attend a Medical Secretary School. Shortly after graduating, she met and married Paul. They stayed in Minneapolis and raised their 6 children: Mary, Cate, Steve, Bob, Ann, and Sue. In 1977 they moved their family to Wickenburg, AZ where they owned and operated the La Siesta Motel. Rita's life was her family. She wore her wedding ring on her left hand and her mother's ring and husband's wedding band on her right hand to proudly signify her lifetime commitment. In addition to her 6 children, Rita is survived by her 9 grandchildren, Aleta, Taylor, Kevin, Holly, Mallory, Andrew (AJ), Amy, Gwen and Lily; her great grandson Luka, as well as a second great grandson, Colton, on the way. Described as a "true lady" and a "class act", Rita will forever remain in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 9:30 AM at Westminster Village, Nurenberg Hall, 12000 N. 90th Street, Scottsdale, AZ. Following the service will be a private family internment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona where her ashes will be placed with those of her husband, a World War II Veteran. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Hospice of the Valley - Northeast Clinical Office, 5111 N. Scottsdale Road Ste. 108, Phoenix, AZ 85250-7076. My son, Jonathan, received a scholarship sponsored by your family through the catholic community foundation. Without their generosity, attending Brophy would have been difficult. He is now at Marquette University and is applying to med school. I just wanted you to know we will NEVER forget the gift Paul and Rita gave to our family. God bless you in your sorrow and we will pray for your healing.
