November 21, 2020

Hello,

We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of John Corey Johnson US Army Private 1st Class.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

You truly know what it is to be an amercan when you lose a loved one. My grandson PFC John Corey Johnson was killed in action. The cost of freedom comes at a high cost. But I am more patriotic to my country, now than ever before. I love and miss my grandson very much but I am blessed to have known the great man that he became. I am proud that he loved his family and country so much that he paid the ultimate price for all our freedoms. I have had a hard time accepting his loss, but I am so overwhelmed with pride for what he did for his country and the people he loved. Due to men and women like my grandson are the backbone of our great country. I miss you John Corey Johnson

As we go through our daily life we tend to forget what goes on in the world around us and how others lives are different than our own. When a loss such as this hits your family it reminds you very efficiently. I'm sorry for your loss, and all my love to your family. I'm greatful to all who serve this country.

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us the freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer.
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier
Who salutes the flag,
Who serves under the flag
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protestor to burn the flag.

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son’s sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to PFC. John C. Johnson our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for John. And to John it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. John, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,307 military Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to John’ family and loved ones.

PFC Johnson follows in the footsteps of America's greatest men. Many veterans before him were willing to make great sacrifices for the cause of freedom. The heart of strength and courage follows all the way to this great nation's founding fathers, and before them another great sacrifice.
"It is for freedom that Christ paid the full price to set us free; it is our duty then to protect our freedom, that we never again fall back under the yoke of slavery."
Our nation's greatest heroes welcome a new hero, PFC John C Johnson.
