James Brockman Obituary

Brockman, James S.
59, of Phoenix, passed away unexpectedly on May 26, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. Jim was born in Garden City, Michigan to Wilbur and Frances Brockman and moved with his family to Phoenix in 1959 where he has resided since. He spent over 30 years in the food service industry as a facilities designer/consultant where he was widely respected and was owner of James Brockman and Associates. Jim was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed playing with his buddies almost every Tuesday. He was a lifetime bowler and enjoyed his summers with all his great friends in the Food Service League at Christown Lanes. Jim enjoyed music tremendously, especially the Beatles, and played guitar his entire life. In his younger days, he played in a band with his little brother, playing throughout the west side of Phoenix and this provided him with a lot of great memories that he enjoyed his whole life. He enjoyed spending time over in Mission Beach playing horseshoes and throwing the Frisbee around with his best friends. His favorite vacations were the family visits we had every couple of years and he especially liked spending time with the kids. After all, Jim was just a big kid himself. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sisters Kay Elder (Bob) and Linda Bosson, brother Gary Brockman, niece Chris Elder and children Curtis and Cameron, nephew Bobby Elder (Laurie) and children Wyatt and Morgan, uncle Harold Kollman, cousins Joyce Griffin and Sue Lynch (John), extended family Mary Jo and Ray Marin and children Steve and Shaun (Rob), and last but certainly not least, a fantastic group of great friends who will miss him dearly. A private family burial will be held on June 11, 2011 and a celebration of his life will be held at a site and date to be announced in the very near future. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Dean R. O'Neill Renal Cell Cancer Research Fund at RenalCellCancer.org. Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com to place online condolences.

Happy memories......4th of July in Prescott and Lake Powell when Jim climbed to the 2nd level of the houseboat with nothing (literally) except an inner tube and his guitar! Great memories were created for all of us by this dear friend. Respected both personally and professionally. We will miss you dearly, Jim!!

My condolences to the family and friends of Jim. I've known Jim since he worked at Zims. We were both in our twentys and he's been designing our restaurants ever since. Jim will be missed not only on a professional basis but I considered him a dear friend. I admired him, I swore he could read my mind becouse we had worked on so many projects together. RIP my friend until we see each other again.

Well I guess God needed a kitchen designer for his new kitchen and he picked one of the best. I have worked on many projects for Jim and enjoyed working with him.
RIP Jim.
