Madeleine Gohus Obituary

Gohus, Madeleine (nee Dywan)
Madeleine "Bunny" Gohus (age 69) Phoenix, Arizona passed away on May 26, 2011 in her home, surrounded by her family, after a very short fight against pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Bob of 49 years; son, Scott (Krista); grandchildren, Parker and London; mother, Sophie; brothers. Mike, Mark (Sandy) and Max (Debra); sister Mary and several nieces and nephews. Born to Thad & Sophie Dywan, Bunny lived in East Chicago, Indiana until 1962 when she married Robert Gohus. After a visit with friends in Phoenix, Bunny and her family moved to the Valley in 1978. It was there that she worked at Alta Vista Public School as an office manager for 23 years. A loyal Wildcat fan, she enjoyed rooting for her team. Each Wednesday, you could find her enjoying fish and chips (and maybe a vodka on the rocks) at the Q-bar. Tuesdays were reserved for BBQ beef ribs at Texaz Grill. Nights would find her on the computer playing Bejeweled and forwarding chain email. She was a devoted wife, amazing mother, loving sister, and loyal friend. Loved deeply by family and friends, she will be missed more than words can possibly express. The funeral service will be held at Advantage Funeral Home in Phoenix, located at 4141 N. 19th Avenue on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011. Viewing is from 1:00pm - 3:00pm, followed by the service at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HOSPICE of the VALLEY, who do the work of angels.

My deepest sympathies to the family of mother and wife "Bunny". I went the BNHS with her and visited her at Purdue while I was at Ball State. I used to get off the bus from the Harbor, stop at her house and we'd walk to school together with Mary Ann???? Her smiling face tells me she had a good life!!! Roni Jarabak Johnson
