Norman Sommer Obituary

Sommer, Norman Harvey
86, passed away in Virginia on May 25. Born in Scranton, PA he served in the Army Air Corp in WWII and received his B.S. from The Ohio State University. He became a sales manager for the Andrew Jergens Company. In 1968, Norman went into business with his uncle, Milton Sommer, and co-owned the American Specialty Company, which sold health, and beauty aids to pharmacies in the greater Phoenix area. He later sold commercial real estate, and then retired to Aventura, FL. Norman was an avid tennis player and tournament bridge player, and had a passion for politics. He is survived by his first wife, "Tybie" Sommer, Scottsdale; two daughters, Wendy Farkas, Roanoke, VA, and Marilyn Sommer Feinstein, Centennial, CO; his son-in-law, Robert Feinstein, M.D.; his granddaughter, Rebecca Farkas, Rockville, MD; nephew Shai-Shalom Matter, Jerusalem, Israel and niece Mindy Matter Diamond, Miami Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael, his sister, Harriet, and his second wife, Nancy "Kitty" Stone. The funeral was held Monday in PA. Memorial donations may be made to www.aclu.org.
