Penny Nissley Obituary

Penny M. Nissley of Paradise Valley, AZ passed away peacefully at age 58 on May 26th, 2011 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, and the best friend anyone could have. Born and raised in Sumter, South Carolina, she is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Tony; her devoted son, Patrick; four sisters, Shirley, Laura, Elaine, and Sandra; one brother, Richard; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Penny and her twin sister, Pandy Lynn (deceased in 1995), were next to the youngest. Penny and her husband Tony moved to the Valley in 1996 where she worked tirelessly for many charitable organizations. She worked donating her time, energies, and expertise to such organizations as: The Arizona Opera, the Phoenix Symphony, Scottsdale Healthcare Honor Ball, the Heart Ball, and Trends Charitable Foundation. That which was closest to her heart however, was the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). She donated countless hours to this cause in honor of her son, Patrick, now 26, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 11 months of age. A wife, a mother, and a friend, Penny's selfless dedication to assist the community, her friends, and her family was legendary. Taken too soon, her spirit will continue to enrich the lives of all those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to JDRF(Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) 602-224-1814 and or Susan G. Komen for the Cure 1-877-465-6636
