Adeline S. Sanderson

Sanderson, Adeline (Liney) S.
passed away on May 24, 2011 at the age of 105 years and five days old. She passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home in Santa Maria, CA surrounded by family members. Adeline was born in Akron, OH and traveled between there and Phoenix, AZ for much of her early life. She met and married Ray C. Sanderson in 1942 in Arizona. Ray preceded her in death in 1991 at the age of 91. After living most of her adult life in Phoenix, AZ, in 2003 she moved to Santa Maria, CA to be with her niece, Jackie Seaman. She and Ray were very involved in the Phoenix Chapter of the Sail and Power Squadron and with the Cholla Bay Sportsman's Club. Adeline was a talented and prolific artist, primarily but not only in china painting, and left behind a wealth of beautiful works that continues to be used and admired. She conducted china painting classes into her 90's. In her spare time she loved to knit and crochet and was an accomplished seamstress. She was never without a dog at her side. Amazingly, at 104 years of age, Adeline maintained contact with friends and family via email on her computer. Although she and Ray did not have children, Adeline is survived by several generations of loving family. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Adeline will be interred with her husband at the Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. In accordance with her wishes there will be no service.
