I am happy that I was able to meet my grandmother. I enjoyed our many conversations we held over the phone. She had a beautiful spirit and she will be deeply missed!

Greetings, Bobby, Billy, Carlton, Carolyn, and Patricia! Your mother, father, Henry, and all of you, occupy a deep place within my childhood memories! Our families out in Mobile were stable, hardworking, memorable, and special. After becoming an adult and experiencing many, many years beyond my childhood in Mobile, I look back and cherish the closeness shared by our families out there and the way we all enriched each other with our unique personalities! (Smile!) In my mind, we were all a big family! Some memories, briefly: your family having the first and only television!; you all, the Champions, living practically in the school yard and having the option of running home during recess!; your mom, and other mothers taking weekly turns cooking tasty meals for us school kids and making enough for seconds; your dad, the Principal, easy going and giving head pats and compliments; and your brother, Henry, building a hotrod that really worked! (Hmmm, one of you was a prankster and you know who you are!) All of our families were brought up in the church. Remember those three-hour-long Sunday services at Galilee Baptist and how all of us children were expected to sit quietly, and we did (although, for me, I kept awake, sometimes, by counting, discretely, the patterned holes in the seat of my black metal chair or by pressing a finger against one of the holes until a red bump formed)! Remember how hard we practiced our parts for the school plays, how the mothers helped with any costumes and/or baked pies and cakes for the refreshments/prizes on The Big Performance Night and how the audience - our families and friends - clapped enthusiastically and made us feel we had been outstanding? Our grownups thought we were great and I was always proud when almost everyone rode on the same bus for a picnic or field trip to faraway places. Remember how the bus almost tipped over at the historic site, The Hole in the Rock, or how, on the way home from a picnic at South Mountain Park, we would eat our ice cream treats that had been packed in hot ice? Back home, in our community, remember how quiet it was compared to the sounds in the city? When I think of my childhood, I have pleasant memories of each one of you and I treasure our experiences together! Peace, Georgia Walker

I thank God for the memories of this wonderful woman of God who influenced me in my youth as my Sunday School Teacher and friend. She will be missed. Although I live in Washington, I had the privilege of visiting with her last year.

Our prayers go out to the family. Be encouraged and strengthened knowing she is at peace with the Lord.

To The Champion family, I will remember your Mom as she attended Emmanuel COGIC under the pastorage of my father, the late Bishop Felton King. We all attended Bethune and Phoenix Union High School together during the "Good old days". There is no sorrow that the Lord cannot heal and no pain that he does not understand. The values that your Mom taught you all will have to be used now in the days ahead. May God keep you all in His care. Teresa Carol Franklin

The Walker family and my husband and me send our prayers and condolences to all of the family for God allowing us to know such an awesome individual for more than 60 years. She definitely stood for truth, uprightness and a desire to always want to first please her Maker. Thank the Lord for such a soldier!

To my family, I am saddened at the loss of Aunt Blanche. I loved her for her kindness, strength, her love of God and the way that she encouraged me in ministry. I know that she is resting in the arms of the Lord after a faithful life.

You have my prayers and love.
