87, of Fountain Hills, AZ passed away on June 4, 2011. Mary: loving wife, mother and grandmother left this world for a better place on June 4, 2011. Mary was the daughter of Harry Ellett and Alma McCullough Ellett and was the ninth of 10 siblings. Her mother, father and nine siblings preceded Mary in death. Mary was born in Plummer Indiana and lived on a farm until graduating from high school in 1941. After graduation she moved to Indianapolis to attend Central Business College. She graduated from CBC and went work for Bemis Bag. She met her future husband, Roy Shewmaker, in the lobby of the Claypool Hotel in 1943. Mary worked for Bemis until spring of 1945 and moved back to the Bloomfield, IN where she went to work at the Crane Navel Depot. Roy and Mary stayed in contact throughout the war and when Roy returned to Indiana they started dating and were married on November 3, 1945. Roy and Mary moved to Terra Haute, IN and Mary went to work for Sears Roebuck. Mary continued to work for Sears primarily in auditing until her retirement April 30, 1986. After retirement Mary volunteered at the Indiana State Museum, Eitelijorg Children's Museum, the NCAA swimming tournaments at IUPUI Natatorium. In 1997 Mary and Roy moved from Indianapolis to Fountain Hills, Arizona to be close to their son Jack and his wife Rebecca and their two children Anthony and Rob. Mary was a woman of business before it was fashionable while being a loving mother, wife and Grandmother. She always put her family needs and wants over hers and loved every minute of it. Mary is survived by her husband Roy J., son Jack J. daughter in-law Rebecca L. Fischer Shewmaker, grandsons Anthony and Robert. A memorial service will be held June 12, 2pm at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd. Fountain Hills, Arizona 85268. Donations may be made to the Hospice of the Valley or Alzheimer's Association.
