Jerome Becker Obituary

Becker, Jerome "Jerry"
Jerry Alan Becker left us to be with the Lord on June 5, 2011. Jerry was born on August 2, 1962 in Wesley, Iowa and was raised by his parents, Alvin and Margaret Becker. Jerry moved to Phoenix in the early 80's and in 1994 met Jeannine Sode and on March 16, 1996, began a strong marriage of 16 years. In 2005 Jerry lost his daughter, Michelle Singleton to breast cancer and chose to help raise Michelle's children as his own. He loved being a father, grandfather and great-grandfather more than anything in the world and he did it well. Jerry was a family man priding himself on spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a strong relationship with the Lord, and is now watching the family he loves from above. Jerry is survived by his wife, Jeannine Becker; children, Leslie Avellone and Jeremy Elrod; grandchildren, Ashley Singleton, Elyzah Singleton, Elahn Moore, Aden Jimenez and Michelle Avellone ; great-granddaughter, Hailey Singleton; his siblings, Ed, Jean, Elizabeth, Donna, Mike, JoAnn, Patrick and Donald, whom he loved deeply. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Margaret Becker, his sister, Mary and his daughter, Michelle. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave in Tempe. Funeral services will be held at 10a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Tempe Mortuary, followed by burial at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale, AZ. To our Heart of Gold, you will be missed.

Dear Becker Family--
When I heard of Jerry's passing a flood of memories came back of our days in Wesley and driving every morning in the car to Garrigan--all of us packed in the car. Know our thoughts are with you all during this time and I will remember Jerry as the fun loving guy he seemed to always be. After reading the obit--he seems to be a very loving family guy :)

Jeannine and family, Ed, Jean, Betty, Donna, Mike, JoAnn, Pat & Donny...We are shocked and saddened to hear of Jerry's death. He was one of the six cousins who graduated in 1980, as was I. We shared many hours of fun at the Becker family get togethers. It's hard to believe that when I visited with Jerry at Marge's funeral in January that it was going to be for the last time. His time with us was too short. May all of you remember Jerry with happiness and find peace in knowing that he is with his family in Heaven.

Jeannine and family, & Jerry's siblings, We were shocked and sorry to hear of Jerry's passing and struggle with the WHY of it. It has been a tough couple of years for all of you. Faith tells us that it is God's plan and we have to accept that we won't be able to see or talk to him here on earth, but it also tells us that he will be with us forever in our hearts and beside you through these trying times. Let your tears flow for what should have been and then love and laugh with delight at what was.....and always will be Jerry's life. Let the wonderful shared memories carry you through the days to come, and know that your extended family is thinking of all of you and praying for better days ahead.
