Gooch, Ellis Duane "Red"
96 of Phoenix, went to be with our Lord and Savior on June 5, 2011. Ellis was born in Bloomdale, Ohio in 1915. He honorably served his country in WWII, stationed in the Philippines. After his service, he returned to his family and farm in Ohio. In 1956, his family moved to Arizona, where he became a machinist. He and his wife lived their lives as faithful servants of our Lord in their service to the church, friends and family. After his retirement, he served as a volunteer at First Christian Church for many years. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife, Grace. He is survived by sisters Mary Alice Eblen and Velma Smith, both of Ohio, daughters Mary (Jim) Crenshaw and Lois (Jim) Ditzler, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was a blessing to all his family and anybody who worked with him, whether on a job or at the church. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be at 6:30 pm, Thursday, June 9th at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations to Christian Care Nursing Center, 11812 N. 19th Ave., Phx., AZ 85029, in memory of Ellis Gooch.

Red was always such a gentleman to me - I knew him at FCC and visited him frequently at Christian Care - it was a privilege to know him. I am confident, through conversations with him, that he is happy now. I am praying for your family at this time of separation. Linda Burleigh Anderson
