Hobart, Belle Charlotte Adams
83, of Bellevue, WA passed away on June 3, 2011. Born 5.18.28 in Detroit, MI to Jesse and Edna Adams. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1946 and the University of Minnesota with a BA degree in Psychology in 1949. She married her true love, Harry H. Hobart not once, but twice; first in secret in 1948, and again, in the presence of friends and family Dec. 29, 1949. She lived in Worthington and Luverne MN, Clinton, IA, Fargo ND, Memphis TN, Anaheim CA, Minneapolis MN. She moved to Scottsdale Arizona in 1965, and lived on Cortez Road until the early 80's, when she and Harry moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona. Belle worked as Personnel Manager at Interstate Engineering Corp in Anaheim CA in the late 50s. She focused on child raising in the 60's. In 1973, she opened a Mary Moppets Day Care Center in Phoenix, AZ. After making that a success, she sold the day care business and opened a retail art gallery. Next, she started a wholesale, "to the trade only" custom art/framing/furniture showroom called B.Hobart in north Phoenix. She sold B.Hobart and retired in the late 80's. Belle was a wonderful and loving mother. She was a dedicated advocate for her son, David. In the 70's, she helped found New Way School (now Academy) for children with learning disabilities to ensure a positive learning environment for David. As a mom, she insisted on non-violent games, proper grammar, and respectful interactions. She made sure vacations were fun, family gatherings joyful and that home was as peaceful as it could be. She taught cheer, kindness and compassion by modeling it. She found children and dogs a constant source of amusement. She loved playing bridge, reading, going to the movies, and being with friends. She and Harry cherished the small town atmosphere of Fountain Hills and the wonderful friends they made there, along with the quails, coyotes, javalinas and dark night skies. Belle died a peaceful death after succumbing to Alzheimer's disease. To the end, she was sweet-natured and always had a compliment for any one in her presence. Survivors include her beloved husband, Harry Hobart, her daughter, Margaret Hobart, Margaret's partner Linda Dimeff, her granddaughter Ella Hobart Dimeff, all of Seattle, and her cousin, Richard Hanson of Dana Point, CA. Belle was preceded in death by her son, David Hobart, and her parents, Jesse and Edna Adams. Services will be held at the chapel of Messinger Mortuary, 12065 No. Saguaro Blvd. in Fountain Hills June 25th, 1pm. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for a light meal and reminiscing afterward. Belle felt strongly about making family planning services freely available, the environment, and animal rights. In lieu of flowers, donation in her name to Planned Parenthood, the World Wildlife Federation, or the Nature Conservancy would honor her memory.
