Guille (from Argentina):
I know I´m none and nothing here, but if this helpsI would like to say that, Sean has something special, didn´t know him as a person or friend ,neither family. But... when i bought the first vynil from Void, those drums start like galloping in my mind, it´s something beatiful and strong and forious and I think that without Sean , VOID would not be that influencial and energized band.
I´m signing now because I thought abut it all the day (don´t know why)

Sorry if this remember Sean´s lost, but I feel it.

Thank you so much Sean
and my best wishes for all the Finnegan family.

Will miss you, Lost touch over the years when I moved. Prayers go out to Mike and family. Wish I could have come to MD. Sean saved me from a terrible situation once, but had to ride on the back of the bike, going just a tad fast and scared me to death, but I got home safe and sound.

Sean, I love you and think of you everyday. I have yet to find words to convey how much you meant to me. I see you and Jake in my minds eye and can only smile and wish for more time.

Mr. & Mrs. Finnegan, Mike and Pete,
I just heard about Sean and I am so sorry. I cannot imagine the depth of your sorrow. Sean was such a nice guy-always greeted me with a smile, a hug and a kind word. I picture him sitting on the chair in your kitchen explaining the latest twist in his movie plot. I can only hope that happy memories of Sean bring you some solace.
Peace.

I was stunned to hear the news. I had just gotten in touch with another person from back in the day, and he told me about Sean's passing. Void were a huge influence on me, and Sean was a great guy. I hadn't spoken to him in a long time, and was hoping to get in touch when I heard the news. He'll be missed.

Dear Pat and Jack and Mike: I am so sorry that you lost your sweet Sean. I know you miss him so much and will continue to miss him in the years to come. I wish I could ease your pain but I know I can't. Even though we know he is resting in God's arms, it doesn't help because you miss him so. Love to all of you, Jeanie and Lee York

We read this at sean's grandmothers' funeral on 2/07/02. " If I should ever leave you whom I love to go the Silent way, grieve not, or speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there. (I'd come---I'd come, could I but find a way ! But would not tears and grief be barriers?) And when you hear a song and see a bird I loved, please do not let the thought of me be sad...for I am loving you just as I always have....You were so good to me! There are so many things I wanted still to do--so many things to say to you....Remember that I did not fear. It was just leaving you that was so hard to face....We cannot see beyond...But this I know; I loved you so--t'was heaven here with you."

I heard this recently and loved it.

Do not stand at my grave and weep...I am not there.
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am diamond glints in the snow.
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain, I am gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning's hush, I am the soft upflinging rush of quiet birds in clrcling flight.
I am the soft star shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry...I am not there, I did not die.

This is a native american prayer and
it makes me think of Sean a sort of
unfettered spirit no one could contain

I will truly miss you, my little buddy. This poem is for you and for the rest of our family.

To Those I Love and Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears.
Be happy that we had these years.
I gave you my love, but you can only guess,
How much you gave me in happiness...
I thank you for the love each have shown.
But now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part.
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on.
If you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
My love around you soft and clear.
And then when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and
"Welcome Home".

I love you, my Nov. 2nd cousin. Kathy

Our deepest sympathies and prayers to you Pat,Jack,Mike and Peter. Sean did what we all try to do. He made a difference as he loved those he touched in any way. The angels have taken him to be with the Lord. There is a song being composed at this moment and it sings of living life and not wasting it. The authors of life have a new co-author of melody and verse. We will be gifted to hear it as we approach the heavenly abode. Thank you Sean for being a brother to my son.

I think of the laughter and the joy in Sean's face, he enjoyed having fun. He played the drums like a madman and reminded me of kieth Moon, a nut! It has been many years since I had spent any time with him, and regret not crossing paths since. I played in Black Market Baby where we played and hung out many times and remember the Wilson Center the most. Sean was taken too fast and I hope that his family and friends can take comfort in the fact that Sean was loved and will be missed by us all.

Dear Lord I miss this man. He was one of my best friends in the world. We shared enough laughter for a lifetime and I am blessed that he is such a huge part of who I am.

One night, at Fletcher's in Fells Point we saw Matt Johnson of The The fame. When he sang "Love is stronger than death" Sean was blurting it out at the top of his lungs. He told me he thought it was such a beautiful song and he wanted it played at his funeral. The words are so powerful and can bring some comfort when we're struggling to make sense of it all:

"...How could you believe that the life within the seed that grew arms that reached and a heart that beat and lips that smiled and eyes that cried could ever die."

Sean will be alive forever in my heart.

My condolences,
I never met Sean or saw the group Void perform but I first heard of them on Flex Your Head, and also on the Faith/Void release. Life is eternal, so you'll be okay.

Sean never let go and the chore of going on with Sean present inside me and absent everywhere around me will be fraught with both joy and pain. To have travelled roads with such a person was a blessing; to walk on without him shows that fortune is fickle and ahead lie long stretches of Januaries, never straying far from the dark solstice, forests barely seen through partly cloudies, overgrown paths, haunted howls at the far reaches of my hearing. There will, of course, always be light, the same one that illuminated Sean's smile, stories and laughter. At times, I will even feel his hand's grasp on mine. To have known Sean is never to be completely alone again. No one I have ever met in this world had such presence. I thank God/the Fates/nature for awarding me time with this prized son; I will require a lifetime to forgive his being taking away from me. He was a sweet Prince, too pure to keep on dwelling this earthly plane, too kind to ever truly part from me. Goodnight Sean, and, as we used to say, you know exactly how I feel. Yes, I feel exactly the same way. I offer my most sincere condolences to Sean's family and friends.

It was the early 80's I was heading to CBGB's to see VOID when I run into a group of guys lost in Port Authority looking to get to CB's ..who does it turn out to be..VOID lost and running late to get to the show.Couldn't have been a nicer bunch of cats.At the show Sean hammered those skins like he was at war with them. A contained righteous cat when you were rapping with him and a rabid animal while he was hammering out history!.. as John (singer) stated after the show "we left them (NY) scared"..indeed! and would come back again to deepen the effect..John threw his knee out in the beginning of the set with his signature flying kick. You guys were light years ahead of the time! it was 20+ years ago and the memories haven't faded one bit. I'm glad our paths crossed!.. my sincere condolences go out to Sean's family and friends...may you rest in peace!

My heart goes out to the Finnegans, whose family spirit was a shining light in my young life. Sean was my first real boyfriend, and we shared many laughs, adventures and long talks. I have many fond memories of the times I spent with him and the course of my life would have likely been quite different had he not come blasting into my young world and demanded my time. He was just that way - very bold and mischievous, sure of himself and his ideas, quick to laugh, with plenty of sweetness and a deeply resonant soul. I loved him and his family very much. Sean, your time here among us was far too short for us not to mourn your passing. I'm comforted knowing we'll see you again when our time here is done and we are called Home. Many, many blessings to Mr. and Mrs. Finnegan and to Michael. The world is a better place because you and Sean have been here. You are in my thoughts and prayers. With love, Cindy

GOD SAW HIM GETTING TIRED,
AND CURE WAS NOT TO BE,
SO HE PUT HIS ARMS AROUND HIM
AND WHISPERED, "COME WITH ME",
WITH TEARFUL EYES WE WATCHED HIM,
AND SAW HIM PASS AWAY,
ALTHOUGH WE LOVED HIM DEARLY,
WE COULD NOT MAKE HIM STAY,
A GOLDEN HEART STOPPED BEATING,
HARD WORKING HANDS AT REST,
GOD BROKE OUR HEARTS TO PROVE TO US
HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST.
I will miss you Sean.

I am very sorry to hear that one of our posters has gone on to the next step, and far too early for any of us to understand why. Sean a.k.a "Raymond Shaw" Finnegan contributed a great deal to our community. His insight, political views and humor helped shape many threads. He was an early contributor to some of the longest running threads and social topic discussions that helped form the general tone of the Battlestar forum; he was also one of the first members I had the opportunity to debate with. My deepest condolences to his friends and family. He left an impression in both the physical as well as virtual world he lived in and with those he came in contact with.

There are special people in this world. We all know one.
That person who stands out from the crowd, whose light shines brighter than most, who lights up the room when they enter.
Sean was one of those people.

I have always carried this picture in my head of Sean. Probably had less to do with reality, but based more on some distant memory of some charcter in a movie. Maybe Cary Grant in Father Goose. This funny, wise and eccentric, disheveled reprobate living in a somewhat ramshackled and disreputable little house on the water in some sort of isolated Florida waterway. Having lived fully and on the edge for most of his life, turning away from the madness and finding peace in the quiet.
That is how I will always think of him. That is where he will always live in my heart and in my memory.

R.I.P. Sean Finnegan, you will be sorely, sorely missed, my friend.
