CHARLES HOOD HEIDELBERG

Charles Hood Heidelberg, 70, of Beaumont, died Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital. A native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Mr. Heidelberg graduated from the Marion Military Institute, Marion, Alabama, in 1957. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg in 1963. He began his career as a financial analyst and later segued into real estate as a developer in locations throughout the South and the Midwest. Mr. Heidelberg was preceded in death by his father, Charles; his mother, Inez; and his sister, Inez Heidelberg Thomson, all of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Caffarel Heidelberg of Beaumont; three sons, Brett Heidelberg and his wife Diane of Springfield, Missouri, Charles Heidelberg, Jr. and his wife Angel of St. Martinville, Louisiana, and Blake Heidelberg and his wife Courtney of Tallahassee, Florida; one granddaughter, Heidi Horton of St. Martinville, Louisiana; his niece and nephews, Susan Thomson Rutland and Richard Thomson and his wife Debbie, both of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and John Thomson of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and several great- nieces and great-nephews. His memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A private committal will be held at Broussard's Crematorium.
