John Gooley Obituary

John W. Gooley Sr. 1943-2008 PITTSFIELD John W. Gooley Sr., 65 of 9 Lanark Rd., died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born Jan. 24, 1943 in Pittsfield, son of Lloyd F. and Adelaide L. Briggs Gooley, he attended Pittsfield High School. Mr. Gooley was a finish carpenter by trade and was a member of Massachusetts State Carpenters Union Local 260 from 1963 until his retirement in 1996. He was a communicant of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. He enjoyed making ornate wood crafts in his workshop, and was an avid Red Sox and Cowboys fan. He leaves his wife, the former Rose L. Vallone, whom he married April 24, 1965; two daughters, Paula Gooley and her significant other, John Bridagan, of Pittsfield and Pamela Bona and her husband, Michael, of Lee; a son, John W. Gooley Jr. of Cheshire; nine grandchildren, four sisters, Laura LaDouceur of Pittsfield, Emma Guadagno and her husband, Sergio, of New Jersey; Marie Demary of Dalton, and Margaret Pike and her husband, Amos, of Hinsdale; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Bruce Gooley, predeceased him. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for John W. Gooley Sr. will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield.
