Alfred Deane 1924 - 2008 NORTH ADAMS Alfred Charles Deane, 84, of 25 East Quincy St. died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on Jan. 16, 1924, son of Charles Joseph Dean and Marie Florence Martel Dean, he attended the former St. Joseph Parochial School. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific. Mr. Deane was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. and was last employed as the general merchandise manager for the Price Chopper Super Markets in North Adams, Adams, Pittsfield and Lenox, retiring in 1986 with 28 years of service. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the North Adams VFW Post 996. He leaves his wife, Assunta Katherine Grande Deane, whom he married June 22, 1946 in North Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Stephen Joseph Deane and his wife, Heidi, of North Adams; a daughter, Felicia Moran and her husband, Edward, of Waterbury, Conn.; four grandchildren, Stephen Alfred Deane, Stephanie Logan, Matthew Deane and Cierra Andrews, two great-grandchildren,and a sister, Dorothy St. Denis of North Adams. He was predeceased by two sisters, Judith Deane and Elaine LaBonte. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will take place Friday at 8:15 a.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Francis Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling Hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the Alzheimer's Assoc through the funeral home.
