Carolyn Chalifoux

Carolyn Chalifoux 1932 - 2008 PITTSFIELD Carolyn H. Powers Chalifoux, 76, of 151 Wahconah St. died Monday afternoon at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she had resided since March 18. She was surrounded by her devoted and loving family. Born in Pittsfield on May 8, 1932, daughter of Francis and Effie Standish Corl, she attended local schools. She and her late husband, Adrien "Pete" Chalifoux, owned and operated Adrien's Diner on Wahconah Street for 31 years. It was purchased by her granddaughter, Tammy, and her husband, Billy McGovern, in 2002. Prior to Adrien's, she and her husband owned and operated the Paradise Restaurant. Mrs. Chalifoux was a communicant of St. Charles Church. She enjoyed traveling to casinos. Her first husband, Edward Powers, died April 1953. Her husband, Adrien "Pete" chalifoux, whom she married May 5, 1956 in St. Joseph's Church, died June 2, 2007. She leaves two daughters, Doreen Horton and her husband, David, of Windsor, and Anna Miller and her husband, Terry, of Pittsfield; a son, Edward J. Powers and his wife, Carol, of Pittsfield; two sisters, Phyllis Kasuba of Pittsfield and Ida O'Leary of Watertown; loving grandmother to Tricia Chalifoux, Tammy McGovern, E.J. Powers and a predeceased grandson, Brandon Powers who died Sept. 10, 2007, Dave Horton, Matt Horton and Karen Horton, and beloved great-grandmother to Averie. She was predeceased by three brothers, Frank Corl, Charles Corl and Calvin Corl. FUNERAL NOTICE: Mrs. Carolyn H. Chalifoux died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Funeral services will be private. There will be no calling hours at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
