Carolyn Blowe Obituary

Carolyn J. Blowe 1928 - 2008 PITTSFIELD Carolyn J. Blowe, 80, of 244 Williams St., Wednesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Pittsfield on July 1, 1928, daughter of Charles J. and Katherine Murtha Blowe, she was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School and the former Pittsfield Secretarial School and Berkshire Community College. She was employed as an executive secretary to former president Thomas J. O'Connell at Berkshire Community College. A position she held for 18 years. Previously she was employed as an executive secretary in the power transformer department of General Electric for 26 years. Miss Blowe was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield, a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She leaves a sister Katherine E. Blowe with whom she made her home, and several cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Miss Carolyn J. Blowe, longtime executive secretary, died Wednesday Nov. 26, 2008. Funeral services will be Saturday Nov. 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery in Lenox. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church memorial fund or to Hospice Care in the Berkshires care of the Dwyer Funeral Home in her memory.

I was sad to learn of Carolyn's death. We worked together for over nine years, and she was always both competent and thoughtful. When our children were small, she would bring them something whenever she went on vacation, a kindness they still remember.
